Android is the dominant mobile OS in Iran right now. But how’s Android doing in the country in terms of users, OS versions, device brands, models and other key factors?
In the past few years, Android has been the dominant OS in Iran, why? the answer is simple, Android is the most popular OS in the whole world and Apple can’t have a business relationship with Iran although they have a great market here. The other key factor for the popularity of Android is that Android devices are cheaper to buy and Iranians are tech savvy and into gadgets. When we say tech savvy, we don’t mean it in a normal way, there are many Iranians who have trouble paying their rent but they have high-end smartphones such as iPhone or Samsung Galaxy s series in their hands. Plus, they change their smartphones very often to the latest model. Apart from the fact that people are tech-savvy, the rise of the internet era and online businesses forced the old generations to adapt and buy a smartphone as well. Right now according to the latest statistics by the government, there are 40 Million smartphones in the hands of Iranians. Keep in mind that Iran’s population is 78.5 Million so more than half of the country have smartphones and the population is really young.
According to the latest statistics published by Cafe Bazaar, the biggest Android market in Iran, there are 28 Million Cafe Bazaar users. Based on the latest statistics by the government there are 40 Million Smartphones in Iran. So it’s safe to say that the Iranian Android users must be over than the 28 Million users on Cafe Bazaar.
